Dr. Victor R. Felipa, MD
Dr. Felipa, who was in private practice in Cumberland for over 30 years and retired in 2007, started seeing patients at the health center in May. After learning of the health center’s need for providers, he felt this would be the perfect opportunity for him to help. Dr. Felipa said he feels an emotional connection to the health center through his association with past providers who have worked there. He also said that he is able to see patients and help the health center, while having enough flexibility in his schedule to continue in other interest such as medical missions work. Dr. Felipa brings his experience and knowledge not only in helping the patients but mentoring the health center staff through his love of teaching. Dr. Victor R. Felipa is seeing patients at the health center’s 144 Fifth Avenue site by appointment.
Tim Purdy, CRNP
Timothy Purdy is a certified registered nurse practitioner. He is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in family practice. After graduating from Ursuline College School of Nursing, Pepper Pike, OH, Tim started his nursing career as an intensive care nurse at the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA in the early 1980’s. He has spent many years in emergency nursing in the Washington, D.C. area, Chicago, IL, and in Reading and Coatesville, PA. He completed a Masters of Science in Nursing in 1994 and a post-masters certificate in family practice in 1996 from Widener University in Chester, PA. Tim has worked in family practice and adult medicine since 1996 in New Holland and Reading, PA and in Cumberland, MD. Tim is married to Leslie who is a certified nurse midwife working in Cumberland, MD. They have three adult children. He is the primary cook and baker for the family and in his spare time enjoys hiking, camping, and bicycling. He is seeing patients at the health center in Hyndman and in the office in Bedford.
Stewart M. Hickey, Executive Director
Stewart Hickey
grew up on his
family farm near Centerville and graduated from Penn State in
1979 with a B.A. in History. In 1987 he received his Masters in
Management from Webster University, St. Louis, MO. He spent 22 years
as an officer in the Marine Corps and retired in 1999 returning
home to the farm. Stewart worked at Western Maryland Hospital
as Chief Human Resource Officer and Interim COO until joining
the Hyndman Area Health Center in September 2002.
Dr. Stephan C. Love, MD
Dr. Stephan C. Love began seeing patients on a part-time basis in January 2008 and then became a full-time provider with the health center starting July 1, 2008. Despite having a successful private practice in Brookville, PA, Dr. Love decided that it was time for a change. After working for several months part-time, Dr. Love liked the health center setting and knew HAHC would be the perfect fit for him. Dr. Love said that he liked the way the health center functioned, with patient care being put first. Dr. Love will be seeing patients in both of the health centers sites, 144 Fifth Avenue, Hyndman and 112 North Richard Street, Bedford, PA.
Dr. Ryan Pensyl, DMD
Dr. Pensyl was born in Cumberland MD, but grew up right here in Hyndman. After graduating with a Biology degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, he attended Temple University School of Dentistry. Here he gained experience in all branches of dentistry as well as earning his degree in 2006. Dr. Pensyl now joins the HAHC with the goal of bringing quality dental care to the community.
Lindsay Pfeiffer, Registered Dental Hygienist
Lindsay Pfeiffer was born and raised in Cumberland, MD. She was a 2003 graduate of Fort Hill High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Allegany College of Maryland with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in May 2006. With her uncle being a dentist and her grandmother being a retired dental assistant of twenty-six years, joining the dental profession was an easy decision for Lindsay. She joined the health center in August of 2006.
Kimberly Young, RN
Kimberly Young joined the Hyndman Area Health Center staff October 22, 2007 as the Case Manager. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing from the University, of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD in May of 1980. Her work experience has been a variety of clinical settings including hospitals, home care, family practice and occupational health nursing. Intensive care, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Emergency medicine, PACU/Recovery room and long-term acute care have been her areas of nursing enjoyment over the past 25 years. Kim says, “Family, friends and the community make this area a special and rewarding place to work and live.”
Elizabeth Claar PA-C
Elizabeth Claar, a board certified Physician Assistant, was born and raised in East Freedom, PA, and knew from a young age that she wanted to work in medicine. Elizabeth graduated Magna Cum Laude from Saint Francis University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Health Science. She then completed her Master of Physician Assistant Science at SFU in 2009. Elizabeth has clinical experience in a variety of settings from internships in family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, emergency medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, and behavioral medicine. She has also spent time working in a bariatric program, dialysis clinic, and long-term care facilities. She is looking forward to starting her medical career with Hyndman Area Health Center, and her goal is to provide quality health care and lifelong health education to patients and their families.
