Gerald E. Gronborg, DPM
Dr. Gerald E. Gronborg has lived and practiced in Bedford County for the past 15 years. He resides in Bedford with his wife and three children. He is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, where he attended Gannon University. Dr. Gronborg received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1989. He completed a surgical internship in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, followed by a two-year surgical residency at the UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is a board certified wound specialist and Fellow of the College of Certified Wound Specialists. Dr. Gronborg currently serves as the Chief of Podiatric Services at the Hyndman Area Health Center. Dr. Gronborg is currently President of the Central Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association and a member of both the American and Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Associations, where he sits as a member of the Board of Governors. In his spare time, Dr. Gronborg enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting, skiing and woodworking.
Kristi Henaghan, CRNP
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Kristi Henaghan joined the medical staff on September 6, 2005. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from West Virginia University at Morgantown in 2002 and attained her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in May 2005. Specializing in women’s health care and pediatrics, Ms. Henaghan will see patients at the health center throughout their life’s span. A native of Petersburg, West Virginia, she now resides in Frostburg, Maryland, with her husband Bernie Henaghan.
Stewart M. Hickey, Executive Director
Stewart Hickey
grew up on his
family farm near Centerville and graduated from Penn State in
1979 with a B.A. in History. In 1987 he received his Masters in
Management from Webster University, St. Louis, MO. He spent 22 years
as an officer in the Marine Corps and retired in 1999 returning
home to the farm. Stewart worked at Western Maryland Hospital
as Chief Human Resource Officer and Interim COO until joining
the Hyndman Area Health Center in September 2002.
Dr. Mashukur Khan, Medical Director
Dr. Khan was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his medical
studies and did a 5 year general practice training before coming
to the United States. Dr. Khan did a three year residency in internal
medicine at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and spent a year as the
chief medical resident. Dr. Khan is available to see a wide range
of patients, specializing with the elderly. Dr. Khan is active
in the community and enjoys traveling.
Dr. Ryan Pensyl
Dr. Pensyl was born in Cumberland MD, but grew up right here in Hyndman. After graduating with a Biology degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, he attended Temple University School of Dentistry. Here he gained experience in all branches of dentistry as well as earning his degree in 2006. Dr. Pensyl now joins the HAHC with the goal of bringing quality dental care to the community.
Debra Neff Schaaf, Ph.D.
Debra Neff Schaaf, Ph.D. is a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania. She earned her bachelors degree from University of Pittsburgh in 1979 and her doctorate in clinical psychology from State University of New York at Albany in 1985. She began working at Hyndman Area Health Center in November 2003 after 15 years of experience in a variety of settings, such as University of Michigan Medical Center and Health South Rehabilitation Hospital of York, Pennsylvania. Dr. Schaaf helps clients manage such areas of life as emotional distress, chronic pain, pediatric, adult and geriatric issues. She resides in Cumberland. She also operates a private practice. Dr. Schaaf is available for appointments at the health center Tuesdays and Thursdays and as needed.
Lindsay Pfeiffer, Registered Dental Hygienist
Lindsay Pfeiffer was born and raised in Cumberland, MD. She was a 2003 graduate of Fort Hill High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Allegany College of Maryland with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in May 2006. With her uncle being a dentist and her grandmother being a retired dental assistant of twenty-six years, joining the dental profession was an easy decision for Lindsay. She joined the health center in August of 2006.
Kimberly Young, RN
Kimberly Young joined the Hyndman Area Health Center staff October 22, 2007 as the Case Manager. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing from the University, of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD in May of 1980. Her work experience has been a variety of clinical settings including hospitals, home care, family practice and occupational health nursing. Intensive care, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Emergency medicine, PACU/Recovery room and long-term acute care have been her areas of nursing enjoyment over the past 25 years. Kim says, “Family, friends and the community make this area a special and rewarding place to work and live.”
